ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Further 111 COVID-19 patients died across Pakistan in the last 24 hours whereas 2,256 more people contracted the virus, said the latest statistics released by the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) on Thursday morning.
The Punjab province again recorded more number of deaths with 51 fatalities followed by Sindh which suffered 40 deaths on December 23.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province suffered 14 deaths, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 4 deaths, and Balochistan 2 deaths.
As per the NCOC, 100 of the deaths occurred in the hospital while 61 of the deceased were on ventilators.
Additionally, 2,256 people from among 37,173 tested on December 23 for Coronavirus turned out to be positive, with a national positivity ratio of 6.07%.
Mostly people tested positive in Punjab wherein 3,783 infections were registered in the last 24 hours.
The Sindh province registered 3,419 new Cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,577, ICT 398, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Balochistan 181, and Gilgit-Baltistan 99.
The highest positivity ratio was observed in Karachi 12.45% followed by Peshawar 10.96% and Abbottabad 7.81%.

So far 417,134 COVID-19 patients have recovered across Pakistan making it a significant count.
As of December 24, the total Active COVID Cases in Pakistan are 38,268 and of them, 2,361 patients are in critical condition.
