ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has so far released over Rs 400.880 billion for different social sector development projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2015-16 against the total allocations of Rs 700 billion earmarked for the current fiscal year.

According to the latest data of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, the government released Rs 64.049 billion for infrastructure development projects of National Highway Authority (NHA) against its total allocation of Rs 159.6 billion for FY 2015-16.

Similarly Rs 94.32 billion have been released for Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Power Sector for which the government has allocated an amount of Rs.113.896 billion for the current fiscal year.

A sum of Rs 16.038 billion has been released for Water and Power Division (Power Sector) for its various projects for building the water reservoirs against its total allocations of Rs 30.120 billion in federal PSDP 2015-16.

An amount of Rs 18.499 has been released for different projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission against its total allocation of Rs 30.408 billion for current year.

Meanwhile, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been provided Rs 14.37 billion against its total allocations of Rs 20.5 billion while Rs 1.40 billion released for Science and Technological Research Division against the total allocation of Rs 1.510 billion during the current fiscal year development plane.

Under PSDP, 2015-16, Rs 13.316 billion have been released for the Railways Division for which an amount of Rs. 41 billion has been earmarked for the current budget.

Under PSDP 2015-16, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division has been provided Rs 13.500 billion so far against the total allocations of Rs 20.701 billion while Rs 5.107 billion have been released for Finance Division out of its total allocations of Rs 12.684 billion.

Similarly, Rs 1.016 billion have been released for Housing and Works Division out of its total allocations of Rs 2.730 billion.

The government also released Rs 624.912 million for National Food Security and Research Division, Rs 1.04 billion for Science and Technical research Division and Rs. 350 million for SPARCO.

The government has released Rs 700 million for Aviation Division, Rs 190 million for Cabinet Division, Rs 1,225 million for Capital Administration and Development Division, Rs 1,133 million for Defence Divisions and Rs 585 for Defence Production Division.

Similarly, Rs 1551.086 million have been released for Federal Education and Professional Training Division, Rs 646 million for

Petroleum and Natural Resources Division, and Rs 1070 million for Law, Justice and Human Rights Division.

An amount of Rs 9.406 billion has been released for Azad Jammu and Kashmir block and other projects as against the total allocation of Rs 13.3 billion for current fiscal year.

The government also released Rs 13.431 billion for the development of Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA) and SAFRON for which the government has allocated Rs 19.700 billion for fiscal year 2015-16 for uplift of these areas.

Similarly, Rs 4.919 billion have been released for Gilgit Baltistan development out of its total allocations of Rs 9.937 billion.

The government has also released Rs 20 billion for Pakistan Millennium Development Goals and community development programmes aiming at to achieve proper human development index by improving the standards of life in the country.

The government has released Rs 62.290 billion for Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs) and security enhancement under current year’s development programme for the rehabilitations of TDPs.

The Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform has been following a proper mechanism to release funds as per quarterly ceilings.

It releases 20 percent of funds in first quarter (July September), 20 percent in second quarter (October December) and 30 percent each during third quarter (January March) and fourth quarter (April June).
