RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Turkish Chief of General Staff (CGS) General Hulusi AKAR has lauded appreciated achievements of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid tributes to Pakistan’s sacrifices in bringing peace and stability in the region.

The appreciation came when the Turkish CGS called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, said a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including military to military relations, regional security situation and measures to further enhance defence cooperation between both the countries were discussed.

Earlier in the day, President Mamnoon Hussain conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on General Hulusi Akar in a special ceremony in Islamabad.

While talking to General Hulusi Akar, the president reiterated Pakistan’s strong desire to further strengthen its partnership with Turkey in defence.

“Pakistan and Turkey enjoy brotherly relations and share identical views on international issues,” the president said.

The president appreciated the Turkish participation in trilateral process for bringing peace in Afghanistan.
