ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan and Iran can move the volume of bilateral trade up to $5 billion.

In his address at the Pakistan-Iran Joint Business Forum in Islamabad on Saturday, Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Iran relations are based on mutual respect, culture, and religion.Nawaz Sharif seeks enhancing of Pak-Iran trade volume to $5 billion

Sharif said that it is necessary to meet the challenges of terrorism, energy to achieve the targets of economy.

“We are taking effective steps for curbing the terrorism,” he said adding that it is very difficult to achieve Quaid’s Pakistan without ending menace of terrorism.

The prime minister said that his government is taking steps to promote regional relations. He said that economic revolution in Pakistan will also bring prosperity in the region.

“We are constructing China-Pakistan economic Corridor for the promotion of trade among the regional countries,” Sharif added.

In his remarks, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that economic stability can be achieved by promoting Pak-Iran political and cultural relations.

Hassan Rouhani said that Iran is ready to cooperate with Pakistan in gas and oil sectors. He said that Iran gives importance to Pakistan.

The Iranian president said that economic stability of Pakistan is the economic stability of Iran.

In addition, he said that Iran can help Pakistan in meeting its energy and gas needs as well as in infrastructure, trade and tourism sector. He said that Iran can also help Pakistan in construction of dams and roads.

The Iranian president lauded the sacrifices of Pakistan Army in the war against terror.

In his welcome address, the Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said that Pakistan will provide maximum facilities to Iranian traders for growth of multi-faceted economic relations between the two fraternal countries.

Dastgir said that lifting of sanctions on Iran will open new avenues of cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in different sectors.
