ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief Statistician Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Asif Bajwa on Tuesday said that the government would announce new date for conducting national population and house census soon after consultation with all provinces and the armed forces.
He said on the part of PBS, the preparation was final but due to some issues from the provinces and launching of final stage of operation Zarb-e-Azb, the process was delayed.
“As soon as the visible date is final, we would go to Council of Common Interest (CCI) for announcement of new date for conducting the census”, Asif Bajwa said while addressing a press briefing here.
He said due to the ongoing operation against terrorists, the PBS could not get the required number of security personnel.
When asked that with delay in the process, how much additional cost would be incurred on the national exchequer, he said so far not much expenses had been made so it was unlikely that the budget would be changed despite delay in the process of census.
