ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: State Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that the security institutions of all the provinces are implementing on National Action Plan (NAP) and providing positive results.

Responding to a query, he said government has started Geo Mapping of Madaras throughout the country as per NAP.

Answering to another question, he told the House that after completion of Geo Mapping of Madaras the ministry will able to provide total figure of madaras and it is provincial responsibility to provide data of Madaras to federal government.

He informed the house that there are 717 Madaras in Gilgit Baltistan and FATA in which 699 are registered.

Baligh Ur Rahman said that under the NAP 10177 people on misuse of loudspeaker and 2345 people were arrested on hate speech act, adding that in province Sindh 167 suspected and 72 unregistered madaras were closed under the said plan.

Replying to a question he said Maulana Abdul Aziz is being monitored and if found guilty in any case government will take action against him because no one is above the law.

He said the number of Madaras in the country is over 31 thousand, adding that 147 Madaras in Punjab, six in Sindh, seven in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 30 in Balochistan are running on foreign funding.

The Minister said that the construction of model jail in Federal Capital would be completed in three years, adding that for this purpose the land has been acquired and construction work would be started in next three months.

He informed the house that Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has taken steps for the welfare of 225 women police officers and officials like pick and drop facility for official duty, separate hostel and barrack for lodging in Police Lines Headquarters with special security, and regimental store where basic items of daily usage are available at discounted rates.

According to details, in the year 2024, PHP checked 31.4 million people on the highways across Punjab through e-Police Post App and arrested 6,537 proclaimed offenders/judicial fugitives. Punjab Highway Patrol checked 18.8 million vehicles with the help of modern technology and also recovered 3,350 stolen vehicles/motorcycles. Legal action was taken against 869,000 overloaded vehicles for axle load violation. Legal action was taken against more than 12,000 vehicles across Punjab for illegal use of gas cylinders. In view of the convenience of the citizens, last year, PHP issued 148,000 driving licenses - 678 missing children were reunited with their parents. 5,005 temporary and permanent encroachments were removed and traffic flow was improved. More than 112,000 passengers facing difficulties on the roads across Punjab were provided with various types of assistance and guidance. 119,000 citizens were provided with various types of assistance and guidance at Police Khidmat Markazes. 1,093 cases were registered for the use of illegal weapons. 20,925 liters of alcohol, 400 kilograms of hashish, 53 kilograms of opium and 5.5 kilograms of heroin were recovered from drug peddlers.
