Fawad Chaudhry announces two new PTV Channels

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday announced that Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) would launch two new Channels – PTV Sports and PTV Children – while present PTV Sports would be rebranded as PTV Cricket.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad, Fawad Chaudhry said PTV Sports Channel would cover all Sports except Cricket as already running PTV Sports would stick to Cricket News and Live Coverage only.

The minister said a dedicated PTV Channel for children under 16 years of age would also be launched.

Apprising the media about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Parliamentary Party meeting held today, Fawad Chaudhry said Dr Arif Alvi would be PTI’s Candidate for the President, and hoped they would easily acquire the number required to win the election.

“We have a clear majority and PTI will win the presidential election,” he said.

Fawad Chaudhry said all ally parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) would support the PTI’s nominee in the Presidential Election.

The information minister said a Parliamentary Board headed by Prime Minister and the Chairman PTI Imran Khan had been constituted, which would decide the allocation of party’s tickets to Candidates for upcoming by-elections.

The minister said the Parliamentary Board would meet on August 27. He said no new applications would be received, and tickets would be awarded to those Candidates who had already applied for concerned Constituencies in general elections or those whom the Parliamentary Board itself would recommend.
