MAIDUGURI, Nigeria: At least 44 persons were killed in an attack by suspected Islamist extremists in a village in northeast Nigeria, officials said.
According to reports, the attackers hit Dumba village in Borno state before dawn Tuesday and slit their victims’ throats.
The officials said that extremists gouged out the eyes of some of the victims who had survived.
