Zaira wasim was a young emerging star of Bollywood. She rose to fame in 2016 when she started her career in “DANGAL”, which is one of Bollywood’s highest grossing films. She shot her last film which was for Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar’s “The Sky Is Pink” and according to latest reports; she has opted out of the promotions of the film.
She wrote on a Facebook post “This journey has been exhausting, to battle my soul for so long”. She further told about the struggles in the film industry and the impacts she has had on her relationship with religion. The post had gone viral, attracting thousands of comments and likes.
“As I had just started to explore and make sense of the things to which I dedicated my time, efforts and emotions and tried to grab hold of a new lifestyle, it was only for me to realize that though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here,” she wrote.
“This field indeed brought a lot of love, support, and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of imaan [faith]. While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my imaan [faith], my relationship with my religion was threatened.”
She added that the career often put her in a “vulnerable” position: “It was always so easy to succumb to the environment that damaged my peace, imaan [faith] and my relationship with Allah.”
Her posts brought a lot of reactions from Bollywood stars;
Dear #ZairaWasim I respect your decision of quitting movies. I don’t agree with the reasons that you’ve given. I think you’re an incredible actress and you can do so much more with your career.
I genuinely hope you’d rethink and continue to pursue Acting…
Best wishes!!

I respect @ZairaWasimmm space to make a choice to either join or leave films. But i am deeply disturbed at the indoctrination of religious conservatism – any religion-in that choice being made. Thus Choice is sometimes a complicated word. For women, especially.

Religion is never against culture, arts and entertainment. It’s a proponent of it. To each his own. Religion must really be laughing at this. So am I. #ZairaWasim

No doubt Zaira Wasim had to face the opposition but there were some who came to her defense.
I wish her luck and strengthAfter seeing this,I now regret my first immediate tweet after reading her statement.Maybe she was forced to write what was unacceptable to people like me who love films,cinema,the industry, that I was born into.Deleting the tweet that now sounds harsh. https://t.co/Okcg3NrCFa

Who are any of us to question @ZairaWasimmm’s choices? It’s her life to do with as she pleases. All I will do is wish her well & hope that what ever she does makes her happy.

Thus, at the end of the day, every person is free to make their own decisions, from a common man to a big emerging super star. She had probably done which was best for her and her career.
