The 70’s blockbuster classic ‘SHOLAY’ hits cinemas across Pakistan in 3D & 2D to entertain the enormous and enthusiastic fan base across the border

KARACHI, Pakistan: The legendary cinematic miracle of Bollywood ‘SHOLAY’ is showcasing in cinemas across Pakistan.

The movie was launched in 3D & 2D at a glitzy and glamorous premier event last night in Karachi. The film is one of its kind and even after 40 years left the audience awe inspired and in a state of complete rapture.

The star studded cast of the movie includes some of the most prominent names in the history of Indian cinema like Amitabh Bachan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachan, Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan. SHOLAY is the second movie after DEVDAS to launch in Pakistan in a project to showcase Bollywood classics, spearheaded by Mandviwalla Entertainment. On the occasion the Director of Mandviwalla Entertainment, Mr. Aadil N. Mandviwalla delightedly spoke about the project saying “Most Pakistani audiences have not seen such iconic classics on the big screen and providing the fans to experience this blockbuster in 3D & 2D is once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The plot of the movie revolves around two small-time thieves Jai (Amitabh) and Veeru (Dharmendra) who are hired by Thaakur (Sanjeev Kumar) to avenge the killings of his entire family by the big time goon of that area called Gabar (Amjad Khan). The movie is a total masala flick, one of the very first movies of the genre with all key elements similar to a western. “SHOLAY’s release in 3D & 2D on Pakistani screens is a clever way of amalgamating two generations together; we live in an era where individual preferences have taken over quality family time but classics like SHOLAY still have the capacity to amuse the young and old alike.”

SHOLAY was and still is the perfect blend of comedy, tragedy, action and drama packed into a single film. It ranked first in the British Film Institute’s 2002 poll of “Top 10 Indian Films” of all time. SHOLAY was also awarded the Best Film in the Last Fifty Years in the year 2005 by the Filmfare awards.
