Lahore:  The legend singer of Pakistan Naheed Akhtar will not perform in at Alhamra Arts Centre Lahore on June 8 but attend the event that has been arranged in the honour of her achievements. She left singing around 22 year ago and gave full time to her family.

While talking to dispatch News Desk (DND), her husband and famour writer and director Asif Ali Pota said that she will attend the event while her songs will be performed by others including Shabnam Majeed and Saima Jahan.

Naheed Akhtar hails from Multan and her first performance was in a Youth show of early 70s at Pakistan Television.

Naheed Akhtar is a Pakistani playback singer. She was discovered by veteran musician M. Ashraf in the mid-1970s after her appearance in Pakistan Television Youth show conducted by today’s top anchor of Pakistan Iftikhar Ahmad. Naheed Akhtar was a replacement of Runa Laila, who had left Pakistan the same year. Her debut film was Nanha Farishta in 1974 and that year she sang songs in the film Shama.
