On November 12, 2018, we said goodbye to a man who had become a legend to both comic books and movies fan – Stan Lee (December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018).
Not only we loved seeing his many character creations but we looked forward to see his iconic and amazing cameos in each new Marvel movie that came out.
Stan Lee is hailed as a creator of some of our favorite superhero franchises including Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Thor, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Iron Man.
Stan Lee had been a poster child of the expensive marvel cinematic universe and there is no denying that he was an incredibly talented person but he didn’t create these iconic characters all by himself. He shared a credit for many other creations with his co-creators, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby.
Comic book fans know these names well but as far as a general public is concerned, Stan Lee was the pop culture icon closely associated with Marvel characters.
Stan Lee had always stood out and in his harder parts he was as big as superhero nerd as the rest of us. As much as you love seeing his cameos in Marvel movies, we can almost guaranteed that he loved them even more.
Roy Thomas, who succeeded Lee as editor-in-chief at Marvel visited him two days before his death to discuss the upcoming book “The Stan Lee Story”. He also stated “I think he was ready to go but was still talking about doing more cameos. As long as he had a energy for it and didn’t have to travel, he was always up for more cameos.
Stan Lee died at the age of 95 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
