ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has tied the knot with DawnNews anchorperson Rehman Khan on Thursday.

Mufti Saeed administered the couple’s Nikah in a simple ceremony, held at Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala on Thursday.

No relative of Imran Khan attended the Nikah ceremony; however, Reham Khan’s sisters were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan said that they don’t have any information about his marriage.

“We don’t know anything about IK’s marriage, we are all in Lahore,” Aleema Khan said.

The 62-year-old legendary cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan had hinted in a press conference held in Islamabad on Tuesday that an official announcement was in the offing.

“Marriage is not a crime,” Imran said in Islamabad after his return from London where he reportedly had gone to convince his two sons about his marriage with 41-year-old Rehman Khan.

Earlier, the PTI’s information secretary Shireen Mazari told media on Thursday that the wedding will be a low-key affair.

Mazari also dismissed reports that the wedding will be a fundraising event for Imran’s Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital.

“As far as I know, it is an extremely private affair. There are no such ticketed cards and no grand function,” she said.

“Imran is in no mood to celebrate after the Peshawar tragedy,” Mazari added. “This is not a time to celebrate.”
