Entertainment‘I Took Inspiration from Mehwish Hayat and Hajra Yamin’s Punjabi Characters’- Rabya...

We have seen the budding actress Rabya Kulsoom in quite a lot of dramas, adverts, and many fun-filled videos for the web, and pretty soon, we will be watching her on the big-screen paired opposite Emmad Irfani.

The film is called Gawah Rehna, and the young starlet will be seen playing the role of a Hindu girl.

Speaking about her character in a recent interview, she made a refreshingly honest admission about how she prepared for this character.

When the host Nadia Khan asked her who she learned the Punjabi dialect from, Rabya revealed that she had watched Mehwish Hayat’s role in Load Wedding and Hajra Yamin in Pinky Memsaab.

According to Rabya, she learned a lot by watching these two fine actresses perform, and that helped her prepare for her role in Gawah Rehna.

She stressed that both had done an incredible job and had managed to convince the audience. Hence, she picked up all the cues in terms of tone of voice.

Plus, she added her own flavor to it. The girl she is playing has a bit of a Punjabi accent but it’s mixed with a bit of Urdu accent.

Hence, she had to get the tonality just right to make the audience believe in her character’s story.

So far, all her work has been super impressive. One can perhaps expect more of the same from Gawah Rehna. For now, we can say kudos for her honesty. It is not often that we see celebrities complimenting each other publically for their work. We are excited to see what this rising actress has in store for us and make her debut on the big screen!
