LAHORE: Pakistan’s most anticipated music platform, Coke Studio, is set to return with a brand new Season 6 this October.

The new season is believed to be full of exciting talent, diverse musical influences and dynamic performances. The detailed schedule of the Season will be released on October 6.

A press release issued on Tuesday in this regard states that “This Years’ Coke Studio voyage will witness a fusion of Eastern, Western and regionally inspired music for which the platform has come to be renowned. However, this season goes deeper in its journey, exploring the international heritage of popular local music genres, tracing these global influences that have left an indelible impact on Pakistan’s national and cultural musical identity.”

“To that end, Coke Studio’s cross-genre Pakistani musical talent will be joined by international musicians trained in both contemporary and traditional instrumentation.”

Speaking about Coke Studio, Rizwan U Khan, General Manager of Coca-Cola Pakistan stated, “At Coca-Cola we pride ourselves on being on the forefront of new and dynamic innovations, and we can say with confidence that Coke Studio is precisely that. With this season Coke Studio embraces and espouses an even more global identity, fusing it in harmony with Pakistan’s heritage. We all look forward to bringing another groundbreaking season of Coke Studio to the nation.”

The press release further states that “Season 6 will incorporate global music influences spanning from Fes, Morocco, to the Balkans, the Ottoman, and Kathmandu, Nepal. With this added dimension to its sixth season, Coke Studio endeavours to make Pakistani music more accessible to a global audience, while at the same time encouraging international artists to adopt and integrate Pakistani music influences into their own compositions.”

Coke Studio Season 6 features the following artists: Abrar-ul-Haq, Alamgir, Ali Azmat, Asad Abbas, Atif Aslam, Ayesha Omar, Farisha Pervez, Muazzam Ali Khan, Rostam Mirlashari, Rustam Fateh Ali Khan, Saeen Zahoor, Sanam Marvi, Sumru Ağıryürüyen, Umair Jaswal, Zara Madani, Zeb & Haniya and Zoe Viccaji.

The Coke Studio houseband for Season 6 features Asad Ahmed on guitar, Babar Ali Khanna on Dholak, Jaffer Zaidi on keyboards, Kamran ‘Mannu’ Zafar on bass, Louis ‘Gumby’ Pinto on drums, Sikandar Mufti on percussions and drums, Omran Shafique on guitar and Zoe Viccaji and Rachel Viccaji on backing vocals.

Coke Studio Season 6 will also feature guest musicians from Italy, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, Pakistan, Serbia and Turkey.
