By Sana Haroon

Coke Studio has released its first track “Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa” of its Season 11 on Friday (August 10, 2018).

The eagerly awaited poetry of Allama Iqbal has been recorded in the voices of Natasha Baig, Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad Qawwal & Brothers. The song is produced and directed by Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi.

The unique and strong melody explores the genre of rock and shows the powerful combination of Qawwali. “Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa” has always been a most contentious, impassioned and powerful poetry.

The theme of Shikwa is actually a complaint of Iqbal to God when Muslims were facing downfall and oppression while Jawab-e-Shikwa is the answer to that complaint. Every word of the poetry is strong enough to give goosebumps. Allama Iqbal beautifully narrated his lyrics and expressed how Allah would answer to those complains.

Coke Studio’s “Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa” has given new spirit to a nation. The voice of the whole stream has proved that Coke Studio is the hottest music platform of Pakistan. Natasha Baig’s shredded voice, chords progression and powerful lyrics has heated up the platform.

Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa Lyrics

Kyon ziaan kaar banun, sood framosh rahoon?

Why should I play the part of the loser and refrain from seeking what I can gain?

Kyon Ziaan kaar banun, sood framosh rahoon?

Why should I play the part of the loser and refrain from seeking what I can gain?

Fikr-e-farda na karun, mahw-e-ghum-e-dosh rahoon

Why shouldn’t I think of the future, instead of mourning the losses of the past?

Fikr-e-farda na karun, mahw-e-ghum-e-dosh rahoon

Why shouldn’t I think of the future, instead of mourning the losses of the past?

Kyon (mein) ziaan kaar banun, sood framosh rahoon?

Why should I play the part of the loser and refrain from seeking what I can gain?

Fikr-e-farda na karun, mahw-e-ghum-e-dosh rahoon

Why shouldn’t I think of the future, instead of mourning the losses of the past?

Naale bulbul ke sunoon

Why should I listen to the woes of the nightingale?

Naale bulbul ke sunoon, aur hama tan gosh rahoon

Why should I listen to the woes of the nightingale with such interest?

Hamnawa, main bhi koi gul hoon ke khamosh rahoon

My friend, I am not a flower who will remain silent

Jurrat aamoz

Courage!

Jurrat aamoz meri taab-e-sukhan hai mujhko

I have the courage to speak up

Jurrat aamoz meri taab-e-sukhan hai mujhko

I have the courage to speak up

Jurrat aamoz meri taab-e-sukhan hai mujhko

I have the courage to speak up

Shikwa Allah se khakam badahan hai mujhko

Unfortunately I have a grievance with my creator

Shikwa Allah se khakam badahan hai mujhko

Unfortunately I have a grievance with my creator

Shikwa Allah se khakam badahan hai mujhko

Unfortunately I have a grievance with my creator

Shikwa Allah se khakam badahan hai mujhko

Unfortunately I have a grievance with my creator

Hai baja, Hai baja, Hai baja, Hai baja,

It’s true, It’s true, It’s true، It’s true

Hai baja, shewa-e-tasleem mein mashhoor hain hum

It’s true that we are known for being dutiful

Hai baja, shewa-e-tasleem mein mashhoor hain hum

It’s true that we are known for being dutiful

Qissa-e-dard sunaate hain ke majboor hain hum

We only tell this tale of woe because we have a predicament

Qissa-e-dard sunaate hain ke majboor hain hum

We only tell this tale of woe because we have a predicament

Saaz-e-Khamoosh hain, faryaad se Ma’moor hain hum

Though we remain quiet, we have grievances to share

Saaz-e-Khamoosh hain, faryaad se Ma’moor hain hum

Though we remain quiet, we have grievances to share

Naala aata hai agar lab pe to Ma’zuur hain hum

If a complaint reaches our lips, we are unable to express it

Hum se pahle tha ajab tere jahan ka manzar

Before us, this world of yours looked different

Kahin masjood the patther, kahin ma’bood shajar

People worshiped trees and stones

Khugar-e-paikar mahsoos thi insaan ki nazar

Man’s perception was limited to only what he could see

Maanta phir koi un-dekhe Khuda ko kyonkar?

Then how could anyone believe in an unseen God?

Kyonkar? Kyonkar? Kyonkar? Kyonkar?

How? How? How? How?

Khuda! Khuda!

God! God!

Tujhko maalum hai leta tha koi naam tera

Was there anyone who would recite your name

Tujhko maalum hai leta tha koi naam tera

Was there anyone who would recite your name

Tujhko maalum hai leta tha koi naam tera

Was there anyone who would recite your name
