Finally renowned Pakistani singer Atif Aslam broke his silence over the recent national flag controversy, he was dragged in, and said that green flag is my identity.

“Indeed, Almighty Allah honors whom he wills,” Atif Aslam wrote on his Instagram account on Thursday.

The 35-year old Atif Aslam – who is equally popular in India as he has spell bounded the Indian audience as well multiple times with his unique and powerful voice – said that his fans are well aware that i know how to honour the flag of my beloved Country.

Atif Aslam hoped that in Naya Pakistan (New Pakistan), all those people would be honored who have enlightened Pakistan’s name across the globe.

Atif Aslam also thanked his fans for not bothering about the fake propaganda against him. He also paid gratitude to Shafqat Amanat Ali for standing by him and extending support to him, saying that he has “huge amount of respect for Shafqat Amanat Ali”.

It is worth mentioning here that Atif Aslam was accused of not holding and waving Pakistani flag despite being asked to when he was performing at the annual Pakistan Day Parade held in New York City on August 5.

As the controversy surfaced, the people from different walks of life lambasted Atif Aslam and even questioned his patriotism.

Even a petition was filed against the singer at Lahore’s Civil Lines Police Station today, seeking the filing of a case against Atif Aslam for disrespecting the Pakistani flag.

However in the meantime, Atif Aslam’s fans including the veteran singer Shafqat Amanat Ali turned to twitter and voiced support in his favour.

Atif Aslam’s fans argued that as for the concert video surfacing on social media, Pakistanis who attended the concert were enjoying and singing along with Atif Aslam while a lot of them were holding the Pakistan flags.

They said that they will continue to stand with Atif Asam and support him by defusing the negative propaganda against him. They said that the people need to understand that music has no boundaries or nationality. They said that neither music is Indian nor Pakistani but music is music.

Apart from that, they added that, Atif Aslam is one of those Pakistani singers who represent Pakistan around the world. They were of the view that the people around the world attend his concerts and love him for his music.
