Monitoring Desk: The Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) held a grand reception to commemorate Pakistan’s National Day. The Embassy also launched a book on the Life and Works of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, “Sheikh Zayed Maimaar-e-Watan.”

Members of the diplomatic corps, senior officials of the UAE Government, Emirati nationals, and the Pakistani community participated in the event. His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, also attended the event. Pakistani artists played the national anthems of Pakistan and the UAE on traditional instruments.

On the occasion, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi recalled the significance of the Pakistan resolution and highlighted the arduous struggle in tackling the growing needs of a nascent state and later towards achieving socio-economic development.  He invited attention towards a range of opportunities in Pakistan that remained pivotal in promoting socio-economic development in the country. These included healthy youth bulge; growing women participation in public life; potential of agriculture, rich socio-cultural heritage, tourism potential, and the fastest growing IT Sector.

He underscored that the government was pursuing a progressive agenda aimed at making tangible progress towards achieving economic progress and Sustainable Development Goals.

Emphasizing the need for dialogue, he called for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza and reaffirmed Pakistan’s position for the resolution of the Palestinian issue and Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with the UN Security Council resolutions.

Ambassador Tirmizi acknowledged the impressive economic growth of the UAE in the last five decades and paid rich tribute to the visionary leadership of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan which was proudly continued by current President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He referred to the growing Pakistan-UAE strong political and economic partnership, demonstrated through regular high-level contacts, well-established institutions, and the presence of 1.7 million Pakistani diaspora.

As a mark of tribute to the founding father of the UAE, the Embassy also launched a book on the Life and Works of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan titled “Sheikh Zayed Maimaar-e-Watan,” written by a prominent Pakistani, Mr. Khan Zaman Suroor. The book is a tribute from the Pakistani community to the people and the Government of the UAE.

On this occasion, one of the distinguished Pakistani entrepreneurs, Mr. Adnan Niaz, was honoured with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his outstanding services.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s Embassy in UAE under the directions of Prime Minister Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the guidance of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is working day and night to showcase Pakistan as an investment destination and ever green diplomatic engagements between Pakistan and UAE are touching new highests and writing new history of bilateral relations since Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi is heading the team of professional Pakistani diplomats.
