Elections 2018PTI asks ECP not to compromise on conducting free, transparent elections

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to not to succumb to any pressure, and ensure transparency in general elections 2018.

In a statement on Tuesday, the PTI Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry said that it is the basic Constitutional responsibility of the ECP to conduct free, fair and transparent elections.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the ECP must analyze the voices being raised by some political and journalistic circles regarding the transparent elections. He asked the Election Commission to make a comprehensive analysis of such critical voices.

The PTI Central Information Secretary said that the ECP must tell the nation that how much reality lies in assertions about non-transparent and unfair elections.

Fawad Chaudhry said that some political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are shaping their narratives of rigged elections after observing obvious signs of their defeat. He said that these political parties are active to link their possible rejection by the people on July 25 with rigging.

The PTI leader said that it’s the most difficult of PML-N as for the first time they are in the election race without having umpires of their choice.

Fawad said that the ECP should tell that whether these voices are being raised as part of deliberate attempts to make the elections controversial. He said that it is the responsibility of the ECP to remove all legitimate reservations before the elections.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the responsibility also lies on the Election Commission to deal with such elements, endeavoring to bring instability in the Country through elections. He said that the EPC must realize the critical situation, and bring the facts before the nation immediately.
