The Returning Officers (ROs) have rejected nomination papers filed by the former President Pervez Musharraf and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar from NA-1 Chitral and NA-245 Karachi East-IV respectively as scrutiny of nomination papers filed by Candidates for 2018 general elections enters last day on Tuesday.
The RO Muhammad Khan of NA-1 rejected the nomination papers for Pervez Musharraf in the light of Peshawar High Court (PHC) 2013 judgement while the RO of NA-245 Ahsan Khan rejected Farooq Sattar’s nomination papers after the scrutiny, ruling that the MQM leader is an absconder in two cases but he didn’t mention it in his nomination papers.
Meanwhile, the nomination papers of the President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahbaz Sharif from NA-132 Lahore-X have been accepted after no objections were raised against his nomination papers.
The nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz for PP-171 Lahore-XXVIII have also been accepted. The RO Khawar Rafique accepted the nomination papers rejecting all the objections. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Sarfraz Khokhar had filed three objections over the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz.
Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers for NA-125 Lahore-III have also been approved.
The nomination papers filed by the Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for NA-246 Karachi South-I, the Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman for NA-38 Dera Ismail Khan-I, PTI’s Khan Zaman Khattak for NA-240 Korangi Karachi-II, Javed Hashmi for NA-155 Multan-II, Pak Sarzameen Party’s (PSP) Arshad Vohra for NA-254 Karachi Central-II and NA-255 Karachi Central-III, and MQM’s Muhammad Hussain Khan for NA-245 Karachi East-IV have also been accepted.
Whereas the verdict on objections raised over the nomination papers filed by the Chairman PTI Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ayesha Gulalai for NA-53 Islamabad-II is likely to be announced shortly.
