ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The polling for general elections 2018 on July 25 will take place from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) extended polling time for upcoming polls for one hour.

In a statement, the ECP said that the polling will begin at 08:00 in the morning and will continue till 06:00 in the evening without any break.

The ECP said that the timing for polling has been increased keeping in mind the ease of public.

Earlier this week, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) requested the ECP to extend the voting time of 2018 general elections till 08:00 pm instead of 05:00 pm to facilitate the voters in extremely hot weather conditions.

In a letter written to the ECP, the PTI Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry said that it would be difficult for voters to throng polling stations from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm under severe hot weather. Therefore, he added, that it would be better if the polling time is extended till 08:00 pm on July 25.

However, the ECP turned down the PTI’s request.

Meanwhile, the ECP has directed Candidates to submit party affiliation certificate to their respective Returning Officers (ROs) today (Friday).

The Election Commission made it clear that party symbols would not be allotted to those who failed to submit their party affiliation certificates.
