PESHAWAR, Pakistan: As many as 600 candidates have received nomination papers from across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for contesting general elections 2018.
According to the Election Commission sources, so far 120 candidates have received nomination papers for five national assembly seats and 230 candidates received nomination papers for contesting elections from 14 provincial assembly seats of Peshawar.
For reserved seats, so far 250 candidates have received nomination papers. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared June 8 as the last date for submission of nomination papers for general elections.
Nomination papers, filed in accordance with Election Act 2017, will be scrutinized by June 14, while appeals against decisions made by returning officers can be filed till June 19.
The former Squash World Champion Qamar Zaman also received nomination papers today.
Talking to media men outside the Election Commission office, he said that he would contest election from PK 75 on Pakistan Muslim League ticket.
The Pakistan People Party’s leader Ziaullah Afridi also received nomination papers for contesting election from PK 76 and NA 31.
