Election tribunal suspends membership of PTI MNA Qaisar Jamal

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar election tribunal on Monday suspended the membership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Qaisar Jamal Afridi from the NA-47 tribal area, and ordered re-polling in the constituency.

The tribunal ruled on a petition filed by an independent candidate Abid Rahman against poll rigging in the NA-47 tribal area.

The PTI candidate had won the seat of the National Assembly after he defeated Mufti Abdul Shakoor Bhattani of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in the general elections held in May last year.
