Monitoring Desk: Ekta Kapoor at last broken her silence and has said that due to a controversial scene in her production indicating orgy culture in the Indian Army, pro-Army social media handles issued rape threats to her as well as her 73-year-old mother and her one and one and half-year-old son.

Ekta Kapoor is a world-acclaimed Indian television producer, film producer, director, and daughter of actor Jeetendra.

In an exclusive interview with OpIndia, she said certain elements on social media issued rape threats and then morphed her face on nude images and circulated it all over the internet.

Kapoor says that some of the abuses directed toward her were so objectionable that they cannot be mentioned. She says open calls were made to people to humiliate and rape her.

Kapoor says she has the utmost respect for the Indian Army and their families and what is objectionable to them will be fixed. “But a fictional story on an app cannot justify real-life humiliation of women. If this can happen to a reasonably successful woman like me then imagine what they can do to girls that are a lot more vulnerable. I won’t budge in front of those hooligans for the sake of other girls. This cyberbullying and rape threats has to stop,” she added.

She was booked on June 7 under sections 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 298 (Uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology (IT) Act, and the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005.
