ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Punjab Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry has reportedly been appointed as the provincial governor.

Though no official statement has yet been issued by the PTI; however, apart from earlier media reports which had described Ejaz Chaudhry as the most favorite Candidate for the governor slot, a number of banners have been displayed in the Federal Capital on Tuesday thanking the Chairman PTI Imran Khan for appointing Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry as the governor Punjab

Ejaz Chaudhry was the Opposition Leader in the Punjab assembly from 2013 to 2018 when Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led by Shahbaz Sharif led rule the province.

In general elections 2018, Ejaz Chaudhry contended from NA-133 Lahore-XI; however he lost to PML-N’s Mohammad Pervaiz Malik.

On Monday, Ejaz Chaudhry met the Chairman PTI Imran Khan in Banigala and discussed the party’s future strategy and formation of government at the federal and the provincial level.

Meanwhile following the support of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), PTI had acquired the required number of parliamentarians for forming governments in the Center and Punjab, the PTI Central Secretary Information Fawad Chaudhry told media on Monday.

Fawad Chaudhary said along with allies they had around 168 seats in the Center and close to 180 seats in Punjab, adding they would comfortably form both the governments.

The PTI Central Secretary Information said the Chief Minister of Punjab would be from PTI.
