KARACHI, Pakistan: The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah keeping in view the financial problems of 19 public sector universities has approved a grant of Rs 1.9 billion so that they could complete their development schemes.

Secretary to Chief Minister for Universities & Board Iqbal Durani had held a meeting with the vice chancellors of public universities on October 10, 2015 to review their on-going schemes, said a statement on Monday.

The VCs told the Secretary that they were facing acute shortage of funds to complete their schemes.

Therefore, they had requested the Sindh government to give them a grant so that they could complete their uplift works.

The Sindh Chief Minister on a summary moved by Secretary to CM for Universities & Boards approved Rs1.9 billion, means Rs 100 million for 19 each university and education institutions working in public sector.

The universities and education institution which have been granted Rs 100 million each are Peoples University of Medical & Health Sciences for Women, Shaheed Benazirabad, LUMHS Jamshoro, Jinnah Sindh medical University Karachi, Karachi University, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Shaheed Benazirabad, Sindh Agriculture University TandoJam, Dawood University of Engineering, Science & technology, Nawabshah, Saheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Science, Sakrand, Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, University of Sindh Jamshoro, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology Jamshoro, Shaheed Mohterma Benazir Bhutto Medical university Larkana, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Lyari Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law, Karachi, Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur and Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi.

The Sindh CM has approved Rs 1.9 billion grant against the allocated amount of Rs 5 billion for Universities.
