ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has reimbursed an amount of Rs 6.8 billion to the students of MS/MPhil/PhD from less developed areas as financial assistance in terms of tuition fee.

The fee has been disbursed through Higher Education Commission (HEC) Under Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme, official sources told the state-run news agency.

They informed that under phase-I it targets provision of Higher Education Opportunities for Students of Balochistan and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) for that Rs 726.23 million financial assistant is being provided so far.

Under Phase-II Rs 5.17 million were distributed for provision of Higher Education Opportunities for Students of Balochistan and FATA till December 2016, he further said.

Under Master leading to PhD Scholarship Programme (Indigenous and Overseas) for the students of Balochistan (An initiative of the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package)”, Rs.199.592 Million funds utilized till December 2016, he stated.

Under indigenous MS leading to PhD scholarship scheme, Rs 1295 Million were provided in terms of scholarships for PhD studies.

Whereas under overseas MS leading to PhD scholarship scheme, Rs 3187,5 million were provided in terms of scholarships for PhD studies.
