ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Universities of Kazakhstan under which, the faculty and students from both Countries will visit each other helping to further strengthen the fraternal ties between both Countries.

In a meeting between the Federal Minister for Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Shafqat Mahmood and the Ambassador and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Yerzhan Kistafin in Islamabad on Wednesday, the two sides discussed to enhance educational and cultural relationships and for this purpose, both sides agreed on people-to-people and University to University contacts.

It was noted that the QAU is already working with the Universities of Kazakhstan in Science and Technology areas and an MoU in this regard is likely to be inked in the next couple of months.

Shafqat Mahmood expressed his desire for a broad-based and deeper relationship with the Republic of Kazakhstan and also suggested the exchange of cultural troops of both Countries to enhance the awareness of each other’s cultures of two brotherly states.

In this regard, the Pakistan National Council of Arts (MoU) will sign an MoU with the Arts related organization of Kazakhstan.

Both sides also discussed holding the events of sports, joint webinars, and other extracurricular activities to bring the people of both Countries closer.

The Kazakh ambassador also presented two books to the education minister namely Modern Kazakhstan ‘ The expo legacy’ and selected works of Chokan Valikhanof that shed light on the history of the region.

The Federal Education Secretary Ms. Farah Hamid Khan and the Vice-Chancellor QAU Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah also attended the meeting.
