LAHORE, Pakistan: The Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has announced the historic four years Scholarship Programme for Students of Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

Under the Scholarship Programme, 22,000 new Scholarships will be awarded to students of Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and the erstwhile FATA.

As many as 1,216 Scholarships will be awarded at 100% while 18,346 Scholarships at 50%

The existing Baloch Students’ Scholarships are also intact.

In the last four weeks, the Punjab governor visited Balochistan, consulted the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the Punjab Minister of Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz, and the Chief Secretary Punjab and met different Public/Private Universities’ administration and philanthropists to finalize the Scholarship Programme.

In a statement, Usman Buzdar said that the previous governments merely made announcements but didn’t release funds to the Universities to offer Scholarships to Students of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the former FATA region.

The Chief Minister said that it was an excellent effort from the Governor Punjab, the Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED), and the Punjab’s Public/Private Universities.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
