EducationPM Nawaz vows quality education for every schoolgoing child

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday said he was committed to ensure that every child of schoolgoing age gets quality education and serves the nation as a useful citizen.

“Education is the basic right of every child, and I am fully committed to ensure that every child in Pakistan gets access to it,” the Prime Minister said at the launch of PM’s Education Reform Initiative by inaugurating the first of the 422 educational institutions here at Phulgaran, Chak Shahzad.

The Prime Minister said his government accords high priority to education and was doing all within its means to raise the literacy level.

“I will not rest till every child goes to school,” he said.

Prime Minister Sharif said apart from improving the buildings, the focus would also be on teachers’ training and modern curriculum that meets the demands of day.

He said a computerised system would monitor all educational institutions in the federal capital, while biometric systems would ensure attendance of the staff.

“All new appointments of teachers would strictly be made on merit alone, and no undue recommendations or influence would be entertained,” he vowed.
