ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MOFEPT) in collaboration with Pakistan Alliance for Maths & Science (PAMS) organized Pathways to mainstream Out of School Children National Workshop in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The Additional Secretary MOFEPT Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, the Secretary-Secondary Education Department (Balochistan) Abdul Rauf Baloch, the Additional Secretary- Secondary Education Department (Balochistan) Syed Noman Ali Shah, the Additional Secretary – Education & Literacy Department (Sindh) Dr. Fouzia Khan, the Special Secretary- Elementary & Secondary Education Department (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Asfandyar Khattak, participants from AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan along with Senior Officials of MOFEPT and other relevant departments attended the Workshop.

The Additional Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary welcomed the participants and said that the Workshop was going to play an instrumental role in identifying key challenges being faced in providing educational facilities to Out of School Children (OOSC).

Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary commended the role of all provinces in this regard and shed light on how important it is for all the provinces to join hands in designing effective strategies for providing access to OOSC. He added that Ministry is ensuring that modern and contemporary practices are adopted for improving the situation.

The Additional Secretary MOFEPT also appreciated the role of PAMS in taking the initiative.

An overview of existing challenges, discussion on current interventions and proposed pathways and mapping enablers and blockers for the implementation pathways was carried out at the event.

This was followed by commitments by provinces on mainstreaming OOSC in Pakistan.
