KOHAT, Pakistan: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Soran Singh on Tuesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will set up Skill Development Schools for minorities in Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.

Addressing a cheque distribution ceremony here at Catholic Church Kohat among destitute minorities’ women, he said the provincial government is committed to welfare and uplift of minorities, adding that as per the vision of PTI Chief Imran Khan the government would ensure all basic facilities and equal rights for minorities.

He said the government is also paying grants for free uniform to students of minorities’ schools, marriage grants, poverty grants and scholarships, adding that measures are being taken for renovation of religious places of the minorities across the province.

He recalled that during 2015-16 as many as 500 minorities’ students across the province got technical training in different trades including tailoring, beautician, electrical, mobile repairing and computer learning. Similarly, he said 310 students were trained during 2014-15.

He said the government has increase minorities’ quota from one per cent to three per cent in government jobs and intends to further increase it by five per cent in future.

Soran Singh said the provincial government is taking revolutionary measures for welfare and uplift of minorities.
