PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary Education and Energy Muhammad Atif Khan here Wednesday said the provincial government has approved PC -1 of blended learning under the Information and communication Technology in Education Transformation Model Project at a cost of Rs 4.33 billion for a period of one year from the next financial year 2017-18.

While chairing a meeting on introduction of new IT trends and technologies in Education sector in Peshawar, the minister said that the project was meant to improve the educational standard and teaching skills of the teachers of government schools.

The meeting besides others was also attended by the Secretary Elementary Education Dr. Shahzad Bangash, Special Secretary Education Qaiser Alam, IT experts and other authority concerned. The Minister was briefed in detail by the representative of one screen on introduction of new IT technologies and highlighted the importance and salient features of the proposed project.

The minister maintained that the Blended Project would prove helpful in improvement the learning of students and teaching methodology of the teachers, adding that it would improve the teaching skills and content knowledge of the teachers also.

The education minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was actively working on introduction of new trends of IT in the schools as it was the era of Information Technology. He added that the government has hired the services of well reputed IT companies for the purpose.

Atif Khan said introduction of new trends in education sector was the need of the hour as competing the developed world sans IT was impossible.

That was why the government was engaged for digitalization of literacy and curriculum and directed the authorities concerned to ensure implementation on Blended Literacy Project in letter and spirit for the bright future of the upcoming generation.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
