ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The High Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Rawalpindi has organised a two-day ‘International Conference on Professional Development in Higher Education: Trends and Practices, Prospects and Innovations’ at the Commission Secretariat in Islamabad.

The Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed was the Chief Guest at the Conference.

Other participants included Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hassan Butt, the Consultant HEC Dr. Samina Amin Qadir, the Vice Chancellor (VC) FJWU Shaheen Khan, the Adviser Learning Innovation (LI) HEC Fida Hussain, the Director General LI HEC, faculty members and students.

The aim of the Conference was to refresh the knowledge base of faculty and to explore novel innovations for their professional development as per the HEC’s commitment to empowering the teaching faculty of universities to meet HEC Vision 2025.

In his keynote address, Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hassan Butt shared the strategic priorities HEC has set for the future to continue the long journey of progress and qualitative improvement of an integrated education system in the Country.

Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hassan stressed that research scholars should persevere in their work despite challenges and hurdles. He said that the faculty members and professionals have to make their contribution to decry darkness and enlighten the world.

Dr. Samina Amin Qadir said that new pedagogical paradigms have changed the educational landscape across the world. This requires academicians and reformers to ensure professional development of faculty and teaching staff equipping them with effective teaching methodologies, she added.
