ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Higher Education Commission (HEC) banned around 450 programmes of different categories in 180 public and private sector universities for not meeting the set quality standards of HEC.

Talking to the state-run news agency, sources said that the banned programmes included Master, M.Phil and PhD level, adding that in this regard an alert had also issued on HEC website and daily newspapers for students and parents, not to enrolled in these programmes of such institutions.

The HEC will not recognize degrees of banned programmes so people have to take their decision timely to avoid inconvenience in future.

The HEC has also banned two higher educational institutions including Imperial College of Business Studies Lahore and Chakwal University and refused to attest the degrees of these institutions.

The students are barred by HEC to take admissions in these banned institutions of higher education.

The Imperial College of Business Studies Lahore and Chakwal University were banned by HEC on complaints of irregularities in educational and administrative affairs and refused to attest the degrees of students of the said institutions, sources informed.
