ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has postponed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2020 across Pakistan till April 5, 2020 in the wake of the Coronavirus threat.

In a statement on Friday, the FBISE said that the revised schedule of postponed papers will be communicated later.

Earlier almost just an hour ago, the federal board had said that the ongoing HSSC and SSC Annual Examinations 2020 in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir would continue as per the schedule.

However, the FBISE had already postponed the SSC Annual Examination 2020 in Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, and also at all its Examination Centres established in Iran, China, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.

As per the FBISE, the decision was taken due to the closure of schools by their respective governments.

In continuation of FBISE Notification Nos.FBISE/C-N/SSC-A/2020/1142 and FBISE/C-N/SSC-A/2020/784 dated March 02, 2020 and March 06, 2020 respectively, it is hereby notified for information and necessary action of all concerned that papers of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2020 scheduled to commence from March 16, 2020 are hereby posted in all examination centres of Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education established in Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan due to closure of education institutions by the respective government as a precautionary measure to control the outbreak of Coronavirus. Revised schedule of the examination will be communicated in due course of time,” said the notification issued by the FBISE on Saturday.
