EducationDress Code under consideration for Punjab govt school teachers

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Education Department has decided to impose a dress code for all government school teachers throughout the province, aimed at making teachers comply with modern trends.

Teachers will only be allowed to wear white shalwar qameez or dress pant-and-shirt in schools.

Sources in the Educational Department told that it has been decided to bring positive changes in teachers under the Reforms and Faculty Development Programme in Punjab government schools.

Therefore, they added, that several initiatives are being taken to ensure that teachers adopt modern teaching values and trends rather than sticking to traditional way of teaching.

Sources were cited by Daily Nai Baat as saying that in Punjab’s small cities particularly in villages, teachers do not demonstrate seriousness with regard to their dressing.

They said that field officers pointed out this issue on several occasions in the past that government teachers appointed in far-flung areas schools, remain very-much reluctant to wear proper dress which leaves negative impacts on students.

Sources said that in the past, several times teachers were asked to abide by the dress code but it didn’t yield any results.

Now once again it has been decided to introduce a dress code for school teachers, sources in the Educational Department told. They said that under the rules, teachers will be bound to wear white shalwar qameez or dress pant-and-shirt while being on duty.

Teachers will not be allowed to wear jeans pants, t-shirts and fancy shalwar qameez, sources said adding that all teachers will arrange their dresses by themselves and if any teacher doesn’t abide by the dress code, he will have to go through the departmental inquiry.
