ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Educational Institutions across Pakistan will reopen on January 18, according to the Minister for Federal Education Shafqat Mahmood

However, initially Classes 9, 10, 11, 12 will open on January 18, 2021 and later the Early Childhood Education (CEC) – from Class 1 to Class 8 – will begin on January 25.

The Universities and all Higher Education Institutions across the Country will open on February 1, 2021, the federal minister said.

The minister also said that teachers and administrative staff will be allowed to ensure their presence in educational institutions from January 11 and resume the home-based online education.

The education minister further announced that the board exams slated to be held in March and early April have been postponed and now they will be held in May and June 2021.

Shafqat Mahmood said that all educational institutions will have 50 percent of students on alternate days as before.

Earlier in the morning, the Meeting of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers was held on video link with the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood in the Chair.

The forum discussed the prevailing situation of the second wave of COVID-19 and the reopening of educational institutions across the Country.

The meeting also deliberated upon the beginning of the new academic session from August and the reduction of Spring and Summer vacations.
