KARACHI, Pakistan: The Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Dr Shahid Siddiqui has announced to setup two regional offices of AIOU in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) for the convenience of the students.

Talking to the state-run news agency on Saturday, he said that besides opening of the regional offices he will also provide special reduction in fees to the students.

He said that there are 44 regional offices of AIOU across the country.

Dr. Shahid added that they are also in search of land for the regional offices in Laki Marwat and Noshera.

He said that all facilities will be provided in the regional office as being provided in other offices of AIOU in the country.

When I took charge of the Vice Chancellor in October 2014 there was less number of admissions to the University, but in 2016 the same has increased much more, he added.

He said that this year around seven lac students have taken admissions to the different disciplines in the varsity. Moreover, the total number of students is 13 lacs and out of it 56 per cent are girl students, he pointed out.

Dr. Shahid said that it was his vision to provide every facilities to the students in the varsity and research work.
