ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Telenor Pakistan have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in Islamabad.

Under the MoUs, AIOU and Telenor will collaborate to provide data bundles and Easypaisa facility to its millions of students and thousands of tutors around the Country to facilitate them in their online academic activities and payments of all sorts.

The MoUs Signing Ceremony was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Education at AIOU Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood.

Senior academic and administrative staff of the University as well as the top Management of Telenor participated in MoUs Signing Ceremony.

The MoU of the data bundle was signed by the Registrar AIOU Sohail Rana and the Chief Business Officer of Telenor Ghulam Nasir while the MoU of Easypaisa was signed by the Registrar AIOU Sohail Rana and the Head of Digital Payment Easypaisa, Telenor Umar Moheen Malik.

Under the MoU, 20 and 50 GB bundle packages would be provided to the AIOU Community at the rates of Rs 500 and Rs 900 respectively on monthly basis.

While addressing the Signing Ceremony, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that the top priority of the Vice-Chancellor AIOU is to provide standard online educational facilities at the doorsteps of the students as well as switching to the automation of all university processes.

Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood further said that these MoUs will provide the latest facilities to our students who are dispersed throughout the Country.

Professor Dr. Nasir thanked the Telenor management for this joint collaboration.

In his remarks at the Ceremony, the Chief Business Officer of Telenor Umar Bin Tariq appreciated AIOU for its national education services and assured maximum cooperation of his respective organization in this noble cause.

The Director ICT also addressed the gathering and shed light on the University’s automation processes including online admissions and other online educational facilities. He said that currently 1.4 million students are enrolled in various programs of the university who would be provided these online facilities.

The Director ICT appreciated Telenor management for their cooperation. He said this cooperation would not only bring ease and efficiency in the University processes but would also be enabling in the complaint management system.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
