ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In a bid to allay unemployment in Pakistan and youth’s socio-economic development, a total of 92,323 internships were offered to educated youth of the Country during last four years, official sources said.

The internships were offered under Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme during which youth underwent professional experiences in public and private offices.

Official sources said that the allocation of interns was made in accordance with the National Finance Commission (NFC) award, and their selection was as per their domicile.

They said it was a revolutionary programme in terms of the socio-economic development of youth and to combat unemployment in the Country.

“It was a broad canvas of schemes aimed at enabling youth and poor segments of population to get good employment opportunities, secure economic empowerment, acquire skills needed for gainful employment, have access to higher education and Information technology tools, access on-the job training/ internship for young graduates to improve the probability of getting a productive job,” official sources said.

Sources said that selected Interns also paid an amount of Rs 12,000 per month as stipend during one year internship he said.

Meanwhile, parents of interns appreciated the government for facilitating fresh graduates soon after completion their degrees. They said that such programmes are very helpful in providing opportunities to the youth to develop their skills for the future.
