Education60 projects worth Rs 106.356 billion approved in three years for HEC

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government approved 60 projects worth of Rs 106.356 billion for Higher Education Commission (HEC) during last three years.

According to official data, the government approved 12 projects worth of Rs 15.814 billion for Higher Education Commission during the financial year 2013-14.

Similarly during the year 2014-15, 28 projects worth Rs 45.506 billion were approved while for the year 2015-16, 20 projects worth Rs 45.036 billion were approved.

According to details, in the year 2013-14, the main projects approved in the year 2013-14 included Enhancement of Infrastructure at Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences), Peshawar (Rs 492.938 million), Strengthening of Faculties of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), Lahore (Rs 643.514 million), Provision of Academic and Research Facilities at Government College University (GCU), Faisalabad (Rs 732.794 million) and Pak-USAID Merit and Need Based Scholarship Program (Phase-II), HEC (Rs 2954.808 million).

Similarly the important projects approved for the HEC during the year 2014-15 included Provision of Basic Amenities at Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Khuzar (Rs 798.731 million), Strengthening of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar (Rs 980.352 million), Strengthening of University of Poonch, Rawalakot, AJ&K (Rs 844.914 million), Strengthening of Existing Departments at Islamia University of Bahawalpur  (Rs 858.442 million), Enhancement of Research Facilities at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Ravi Campus, Pattoki (Rs 980.229 million) and Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme – HEC Phase-II (Rs 2988.147 million).

The projects approved for the year 2015-16 were included Strengthening of Academic and Research Facilities of University of Health Sciences, Lahore. (Rs 813.171 million), Completion of left over work on academic blocks at Hazara University Mansehra (Rs 662.179 million), Subsidy to scholars under Cultural Exchange Program Phase-II (Rs 709.218 million), Provision of Higher Education Opportunities For Students of Balochistan and FATA (Phase-II) (Rs 2983.698 million) and Enhancement of Facilities at IST, Islamabad (with IST share of Rs.125.506 m) (Rs 1486.477 million).
