In a written reply to a question by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) lawmaker Ms. Shahida Rehmani Shafqat Mahmood apprised the House that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) continues to take elaborate steps to improve the performance and standards of all Public & Private Sector Universities/Higher Educational Institutions (HEls) across the Country.

To another question by Abdul Shakoor of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Pakistan (MMAP) with regard to introducing uniform education system in the Country, the minister told that at the moment the National Curriculum Council (NCC), Secretariat is in the process of developing Uniform National Curriculum from grade pre-I to V.

The minister told that the final draft for Uniform Curriculum pre-I to V will be presented in meetings of National Curriculum – constituted under the Chairmanship of Federal Minster for Education with the representative of Provincial Education Minster, Provincial Education Secretaries, Head of Provincial Curriculum Wings – and later on in the meeting of Inter Provincial Education Minister Conference (IPEMC). He said that after having the consensus from all the stakeholders, same will be implemented in the Country.

In response to another question, Shafqat Mahmood told that House that a total of 122 Universities/Degree Awarding Intuitions (DAIs) are providing transport services to the students and only one university i.e. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agriculture University, Peshawar has withdrawn transport services due to security reasons.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
