ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In an appalling revelation it has been learnt that as many as 155 Universities and Campuses illegally exist across Pakistan while high-ups are also allegedly complicit in the felony, and seem reluctant to initiate any action.
As per a list issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the fake, unrecognized and illegal Universities and Campuses across the Country including in the Federal Capital and Azad Kashmir have soared to 155.
The list revealed that most number of illegal Universities and Campuses are located in Punjab where 102 such higher education institutions exit while 36 fake institutions are being run in Sindh.
Similarly, 11 fake Universities and Campuses are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 3 each in Islamabad and Azad Kashmir.
According to Daily 92 News, millions of rupees are being looted from students as they are lured into taking admissions in illegal institutions for degrees but in fact, their future is being held at stake.
The daily said that these educational institutions are issuing fake degrees to students without any fear because influential persons are also allegedly colluding in running these illegal businesses.
Meanwhile, the HEC has once again warned educational institutions against running any programme without getting no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Commission. The HEC asked fake and illegal Universities to bring themselves under the HEC rules; therefore, their Campuses will forcefully be shut down.
In addition, the HEC also advised parents and students to approach the Commission prior to take admissions in any of such unrecognized University or Campus.
