LAHORE, Pakistan: In Punjab, 1,000,000 out-of-school children have been enrolled in state-run schools in one year, it was apprised in a high-level meeting in Lahore on Monday.
In the meeting presided over by the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar reviewed measures regarding the promotion of quality education in the Punjab province, the Chief Minister said that the government is upgrading schools of the province including more than 10,000 schools of Southern Punjab.
Usman Buzdar said that more than 4,000,000 children will be provided an access to education.
The Chief Minister said that the up-gradation of 27,000 schools will help in the enrollment of more than 400,000 children.
It was apprised in the meeting that 6,653 computer and science labs will be established in up-graded schools.
It was told that second shift classes will be commenced in primary and elementary schools. Further, it was told that school councils have been reconstituted to make them functional.
