ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will issue the schedule for local bodies’ elections on November 5, it was decided in a meeting held in Islamabad on Monday.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Tasadduq Hussain, and attended by Provincial Election Commissioners.

The elections in Sindh will be held on November 27‚ while Punjab and Balochistan had agreed to hold the elections on December 7. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Islamabad Capital Territory have not given any date for the polls yet.

During the meeting, the ECP decided to receive nomination papers from Nov 7 to 10, while objections would be received on Nov 11 and 12,

The scrutiny would be finalized from Nov 13 to 15, nomination papers could be withdrawn on Nov 22, after which election symbols would be allotted on Nov 23.

It was also decided that election results in Punjab would be announced on Dec 7, and in Balochistan on Dec 10.

Regarding Sindh, the polling schedule would be released on Nov 1, after which nomination papers would be available on Nov 3 and 4, polling would take place on Nov 27, and results would be announced on Nov 30.

The ECP also directed the provinces to finalize arrangements for the elections.
