Elections 2013ECP to announce schedule for Sindh, Punjab LB polls on December 7

ISLAMABAD/QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday decided to announce schedule for local bodies elections in Sindh and Punjab on December 7. In addition, it also decided to write to the provinces accordingly, making it clear that provinces would be responsible for delay, if any.

In a statement, the ECP said that legislation and notification were not yet completed by Sindh and Punjab governments for local bodies polls.

The ECP had to announce local bodies schedules for Sindh and Punjab on Friday but it delayed announcement of local bodies polls in Sindh, saying the provincial government failed to submit the prerequisites by the deadline.

On the other hand, the Balochistan Election Commissioner Syed Sultan Bayazid has said that the printing process of all required ballot papers and delivery to 14 districts has been completed for local bodies elections in Balochistan scheduled for December 7.

The Balochistan Election Commissioner said that over 6.5 million ballot papers have been printed, in different printing facilities of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, for local bodies polls in the province but delivery to Quetta is delayed by one day.

Bayazid said that all required poling stuff has been delivered to Zhob, Shirani, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Gwadar, Chaghi, Qila Saifullah, Musa Khel, Barkhan, and few other districts of the province.

The provincial election commissioner further said that delivery of poling goods to other districts including Panjgor, Washik, and Kharan will be completed on December 3.

The Balochistan Election Commissioner said that all arrangements have been completed and the LB polls’ process will be completed on the scheduled time.
