KYIV, Ukraine: Following a surge in Coronavirus Cases, Ukraine had imposed restrictive measures in hotspot regions which are now yielding positive results, it was told in a high-level meeting presided over by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, the Ukrainian News Agency reported.

The meeting was held to discuss measures aimed at preventing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Ukraine.

The regions with a high level of epidemiological danger were declared as ‘Red Zones’ and therein preventive measures were placed to curtail the virus impact.

“The Head of State was informed that the restrictive measures in the regions are yielding positive results. For example, the dynamics of Coronavirus infection is falling in the cities classified as ‘red zones,’” said a statement issued by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

So far Ukraine has registered 234,584 Coronavirus Cases and 4,520 people have succumbed to the disease.

In the meeting, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also informed the participants that half of the medical institutions have already received funds for payment of increased September salaries to doctors.

“Eighty percent of hospitals have already concluded agreements with the National Health Service for more than Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH) 670 million, and the process of re-concluding agreements with other medical institutions is underway,” the statement said.

"We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
