CHINIOT: Police on Tuesday launched operation after dacoits held hostage officials and customers of a bank in Lalian area of the city during one DSP and two alleged robbers were killed.

According to details, several dacoits entered a bank branch in Lalian area of the city and held bank employees and other customers hostage for over four hours.

Later, police launched an operation to free the hostages during which intense exchange of fire was seen that created tension in the area. In the exchange of fire, one DSP Mohammad Nawaz and two dacoits were killed.

Police successfully managed to free the hostage. However, it is not clear yet how dacoits were involved in the incident and whether other dacoits managed to escape the scene or not.
