2023 Dodge Grand Caravan – All You Need to Know

Here is all the information you need to know before you buy the 2023 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Interior Details

The Grand Caravan’s interior boasts a combination of soft-touch surfaces and hard plastic, although it may not match the luxurious feel of some competitors. However, it compensates with practical features such as a commanding exterior view, ample cargo space, and numerous small item storage options throughout the cabin. The Stow ‘n Go system, also found in the Chrysler Pacifica, allows for convenient storage solutions.

The standard folding third row neatly retracts into a space behind the seat, while the second-row folding seats are cleverly hidden in underfloor storage bins. While Dodge equips the Grand Caravan with a 6.5-inch screen and an infotainment system with auxiliary input as standard, some may find the system outdated. Basic features like AM/FM radio may be more user-friendly than the current system. Additionally, most of the sought-after infotainment options are optional, and surprisingly, neither Android Auto nor Apple CarPlay is available on the 2023 model at any trim level.

Performance Details

Under the hood, the 2023 Dodge Caravan packs a 283-horsepower V-6 engine matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. While the performance is commendable, it’s worth noting that the Grand Caravan falls short in terms of EPA fuel economy estimates compared to its more modern competitors. Our real-world highway fuel economy test revealed a disappointing 22 mpg over a 200-mile journey at a steady 75 mph, which is less than the 25 mpg EPA-rated for the same conditions. To add to the fuel efficiency challenge, the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, and Toyota Sienna all outperformed the EPA estimates by at least 2 mpg in the same test, making the Grand Caravan’s fuel economy figures less competitive in its class.

Safety Features

The 2023 Dodge Grand Caravan has been recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its impressive safety performance in four crash tests, earning the highest Good rating. However, it received the lowest Poor rating in the driver’s side small overlap pretest, highlighting a potential area for improvement. Additionally, the Grand Caravan’s headlights received a less favorable Bad rating for forward vision, which may warrant attention from drivers. On the other hand, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Grand Caravan an overall safety rating of four out of five stars, with a five-star rating in the side crash test and a four-star rating in the frontal crash and rollover tests.

As for driver assistance features, the 2023 Dodge Grand Caravan GT comes equipped with standard safety essentials like a rearview camera, traction and stability control, and airbags, providing drivers with added confidence on the road. While the Grand Caravan demonstrates its commitment to safety, addressing the areas of concern identified in the IIHS testing could further enhance its safety performance.

We hope the above information helps you make up your mind about the new Dodge Grand Caravan. Feel free to drop by your nearby dealerships for more details.
